So Microsoft is Developing a New Digital Image Format

And they’re calling it WMP. Cool… yet another way to confuse the public when metioning it in the same breath as Windows Media Player (also commonly called WMP too). Microsoft wants this new format to be adopted wide enough to challenge the popularity of JPEGs.

Personally, I don’t think this will happen… especially with a format that has an EULA like this. At least not within 20 years. JPEG is already a widely adopted standard. Furthermore, there are various existing formats that are more matured and technologically advanced… my pet favourite being PNG.

It’s very scarey how MS has to try to own everything. And it says it isn’t monopolistic! Bwaahhahaahhahaha! 🙂

Why doesn’t Microsoft realize that it can’t live by its old tricks anymore and should learn some new ones? And I like PNGs too
