WordPress 2.1 is released and available for download. More information can be obtained from the WP Dev Blog. Some of the more notable features are as follows:
- Autosaving of posts, similar to how Gmail autosaves your email drafts.
- Tabbed editor to quickly switch between WYSIWYG and plain text editing for posts.
- Set any page to be the front page of your site and put the latest posts elsewhere; probably making the Static Front Page plugin redundant.
- Much more efficient database code, faster than previous versions.
- More AJAX to make custom fields, moderation, deletions, among others, much faster.
- Pages can now be drafts or private.
