Linux is a magnet for money . for a simple basic linux training, i was paid few thousands. And no , im not even from IT background . And yes, google is my lecturer, trainer and even friend.

Yes, I’m a programmer by profession, but not shy to dabble in the realms of system administration

I’ve visited MORSEHHack via your blog, and I wish to share with you some things I’ve experienced and know.

Personally, I believe Malaysia is doomed in terms of IT education. From schools to universities, the tentacles of Microsoft have consumed our computer education system to no end.

But the silver lining is that Linux or some sort of Unix-like OS experience is still in the syllabus although way too little for my liking.

The situation in Malaysia is not the lack of funds. Heck, even kampung schools now have quite powerful computers. The issue is that to 80%+ of the population; Computers run Windows, and Windows is needed for computers to run.

The good thing is, a lot of companies realise that dealing with Microsoft is a pain in the ass if you’re not an IT shop. Need Windows? Pay. Need Office? Pay. Need to share files on a network? Pay. Here comes the best part; We now have Windows Whateveristhelatestversion. Want to upgrade? Pay.

No doubt, Microsoft is the champion of predatory business.

Agree with you totally there. On the other hand, are you a programmer? There’s a very special project i would like to see running. Google “MORSEHack” and tell me what you think? Would love to hear your views, thru my blog or email or thru the wiki cheers
