Spamming More Profitable Than DDOS

DDOS attacks are becoming less popular with crackers as they rediscover the easy riches that only spam can bring according to The Register:

Symantec reckons the noticeable fall in denial of service attacks it witnessed in the second half of 2006 is down to the growing difficulty in launching such attacks, and getting victims to pay up even if these assaults are successful. Stealthier misuse of compromised PCs – such as sending spam – poses far less risk, the security firm argues.

I find it very suprising that despite the advances in anti-spam technologies, it still remains a lucrative market for blackhats. I guess some things never change 🙂

i hate spammers. only in 53 days online, my blog has already 511 spams. with those p0rn, ringtones etc etc. Not to mention some of the internet marketeers emails i got. 2-3 days offline, you can expect at least 50 emails in the inbox. just by clicking them as spam letters already tiring. 🙁
