You can remove the comment counter by adding this line to your theme’s style.css file:

.mcpctr { display: none; }

Great plugin!
What would I need to change/remove in the template to get rid of the output number? I just want it to display the post titles alone in the correct order.

I just implemented your widget on my blog, I shall say it’s nice and really made me happy to see those most commented posts upfront on my sidebar.
