I think my days of using shared hosting would come to an end next year. In fact, I’ve already informed my hosting provider that I no longer want to be billed for the next cycle. It’s about time I move beyond shared hosting onto something more solid.
Hopping on to a dedicated server (also known as dedicated web hosting) would definitely cost me tons of money, and I don’t think I’m ready for such an investment. Currently, I’m seriously considering VPS hosting services.
Putting it simply, a VPS is a software emulated dedicated server. It’s not a real physical dedicated server, but a server which has it’s hardware and software resources partitioned via its operating system. Each partition is customizable in terms of software and functions. VPS partitions operate independent of each other. You can even reboot a specific VPS partition without affecting the rest.
