The Invoicing System application that I have been developing for the past few weeks has finally been released to the requesting party this morning. The project needed to be completed in the shortest time possible and I’m so glad that I manage to push the first production version before 2008.
The application was developed using Visual Basic 6.0. Yeah, old programming language, and not really one of the more elegant ones at that. In fact, this is the first project I’ve coded in VB6 since 2002 I think. But hey, the important thing is that it gets the job done!
In fact, the core functions of the program was completed before I went for my holidays. Most of the work that went into the project from that time onwards were in the areas of testing and optimizing.
These are among the most important phases in a software project. It’s useless if your application looks shiny and trendy but leaks memory. It’s like having a leaky Hansgrohe faucet; pretty but wasteful.
