Major Gas Pipeline Leak In Permas Jaya

At around 12:30am on Tuesday, April 22nd 2008, I heard what sounded like a jet fighter flying just over my apartment. At first I didn’t make much of it but the sound lasted more than five minutes. I went outside and tried to find where the noise was coming from.

I found where the noise was coming from. A jet of gas is shooting up to the sky somewhere along a Petronas gas pipeline which is supplying to Singapore. The location of the leak is just before the Permas Jaya bridge (on the Permas Jaya side, near the Shell petrol station). I managed to shoot a video of the incident and uploaded it to YouTube.

The visuals isn’t very clear, but you can tell from the sound that it really is a major leak. Nevertheless, the gas supply was cut around 40 minutes since the incident started and I don’t think that anyone got hurt as a result.

Yeah, I only saw some dots of light. Whatever it is, thank god nobody was throwing away a cigarette or something when the pipe burst. Then that’d really make the news!

I hope the government or Petronas relocate the facility before a real tradegy comes. An explanation must be announce and if it ever occur again, please prepare for huge compensation for losses and damages caused directly or indirectly by a possible larger leak or explosion! M’sia Boleh

I heard the noise and thought it was some kind of hurricane… yeah… laugh at it.
But now I am suffering a major skin irritation right after the incident. I have mosquitoes bite-like rashes all over the body and they are really really itchy. Luckily it just caused irritation and nothing more than that.
