Nothing peeves me more than having to deal with so-called businesses that operate behind free emails or web pages. Imagine having to send an email to
firstname.lastname@example.org or having to visit
http://www.geocities.com/hijcorp/ to get more information from a company.
I don’t know about you, but if such a company couldn’t even afford to buy a domain name and host their web site on a paid web hosting service, I wouldn’t imagine even doing business with them!
Nowadays, domains are much cheaper than they were five or ten years ago. The price of web hosting has dropped tremendously during the same timeframe. Heck, you can get a decent VPS hosting deal now at the price of a 100MB share hosting package ten years ago. Broadband access is growing and many people are more Internet savvy now than ever before!
Pray tell me then, why are so many businesses being so cheap? You want web presence but hide behind ad-ridden free web hosting. You want to project professionalism but use a free online email service to communicate with prospects and customers.
Yeah, I know times are tough. But come on! Domains cost under $10 (USD) a pop. There’s no shortage of high quality low cost web hosting providers globally. Look carefully enough and you’ll find one that’s within your budget.
You do have a budget for your online presence now, don’t you?
