HTNet Reaches 100 RSS Subscribers

Today is a very historical day for HTNet. We have reached a RSS readership of over 100 (101 to be exact) at the time I’m posting this. And of course, I only have you to thank for reaching this milestone. Without you, loyal readers of HTNet, I would probably have given up blogging, even writing in general.

Now if only I had a few hundred bucks for every feed subscriber HTNet has; I can probably go on a trip to Las Vegas with my family :)

Better still, probably I should run some sort of contest to celebrate this occasion. I don’t have much to offer but I think I can allocate around USD $20 for a “prize”. Don’t scoff at the figure, it can easily get you a domain for two years ;)

If I were to run this contest, would you participate?

And yeah, don’t forget to subscribe to my feed. Let’s see if we can get the figure to go above 150 by the end of the year ;)

BlogRush: MLM Style Web Traffic Generator?

UPDATE: I am no longer recommending BlogRush as a source of blog traffic. After using it for more than a month, I can conclude that BlogRush is a total failure.

Strangely, MLM was the first thing that came to my mind when I read about BlogRush. Why? Well, mostly due to language such as this (quoting the latest update from my BlogRush dashboard):

13 Reasons Why I Don’t Comment On Your Blog

While going through my feed subscriptions last night, I stumbled on Criz’s (a very gifted writer in my opinion, check out his blog) post entitled; Sounds of Nature, Sounds of Life, Silence from the Blogosphere?.

The post got me thinking as to why I don’t comment more often. I started to list them down and the end result is this post. Mind you though, that this is not a list of reasons why I don’t comment on Criz’s or any other specific blog. It’s just a general list.

Why Irrelevant Sponsored Links Are Evil

I’ve been seeing more and more irrelevant sponsored links in the blogosphere. In fact, I think the situation’s getting worse every passing day. Nothing kills my interest in a post more quickly than seeing an irrelevant sponsored link in the body of the post.

There are three reasons why I think irrelevant sponsored links are evil:

  • Sponsored links are of questionable sincerity
  • Sponsored links are deceptive and misleading
  • Sponsored links benefit bloggers and sponsors but not readers

Don’t Forget To Link To The “Small Guys”

Most bloggers who gives a hoot about SEO would want to get as many incoming links as possible. They try so many tactics, such as:

  1. Submitting to FFA sites
  2. Begging other bloggers for link exchanges
  3. Buying links from services such as TLA
  4. Some even resort to spamming
