Intel and OLPC finally ended their relationship to working together to provide low cost computing for children the world over, especially those in not so privileged communities. Although I’m a full blown capitalist, I find it painfully astonishing that Intel chose to further their own business gains by competing, rather than contributing to a cause that they weren’t forced to participate in the first place.

If you visit Malaysian blogs frequently, you’d probably find yourself redirected to a domain called adbaaz.com quite often for the past few hours or so. The problems is because Advertlets (I’d link them but continue reading to find out why I won’t), an online advertising company that has its customer base mostly in Malaysia forgot to, wait for this, renew their domain registration! Therefore, all pages that has their ad serving JavaScript will redirect visitors to adbaaz.com.

Let’s face it, the earth is not doing as well as she did a couple of decades ago. All the uncontrolled development we’ve done is taking its toll on mother nature. Although the politicians are still conducting hundreds of virtually useless talking shops each year, it’s time that we live a greener life. Those are the facts that are implied in this well written article from the New York Times: Tracing Business Acumen to Dyslexia. Although I appreciate the wonderful research that author Brent Bowers has put into the article, I’m not really surprised by the findings.

I’ve been programming web applications for more than a decade. Over the years, I’ve heard of all sorts of business ideas that need implementation, and one of the most common idea is setting up an online shop.

Sometimes the proposer has an almost perfect business plan except for one major flaw: not evaluating the online shop backend system properly. Most of the time the proposer only know of one or a few online shop system. However, I’ve never seen anyone who ever proposed on going with a hosted shopping cart system like Ashop Commerce.
