Palm Centro: Sub $100 Smartphone?

Palm Centro

It’s been a while since we’ve seen something from Palm; but it seems that they haven’t been sitting idle. They’re about to release Palm Centro, at a sub US$100 price! Let’s hope that it’ll be priced similarly when it reaches Malaysian shores.

From the looks of it, the Centro seems much more livelier than the Treos. It runs on Palm OS 5.4.9 and comes with a built-in 1.3MP camera. The Centro also has 64MB of built-in memory. You can add up to 4GB more with a MicroSD card.

Connectivity does not seem to be a core strength of the Centro. It only has Bluetooth 1.2 connectivity and it’s not WiFi-enabled.

I think that the Centro could be a pretty decent first smartphone for non-techies.
