Install Google Analytics If You Haven’t Done It Yet

When it comes to web statistics, I’ve always been an advocate of the “Only server logs are trustworthy” principle. I still stand firm on this opinion. Recently, I installed Google Analytics here and on ServerBuzz.com. I realized that my life as a webmaster would have been much better if I had installed Google Analytics on my web sites much, much earlier.

What Is A PageRank Export And Why It Matters

If you’ve been reading on SEO and related topics, you will undeniably be familiar with the term PageRank, or it’s acronym PR.

Of course, if you’re hoping this would be free of charge; you’re living in dreamland my friends. Plans start at $20/year for 6GB. Find out more from the Official Google Blog.

Chinese Company Sues Google

A Chinese company is suing Google Inc. because the search giant’s Chinese name is too similar to it’s own. Their demand is pretty simple actually; Google should change its Chinese name to something else… anything but the Guge it’s using now:

A spokesman for Beijing Guge Science and Technology Ltd. Co. said Google’s commercial name had led to the company being constantly disturbed by people calling up its office trying to contact the search engine.

“We just want Google to change their commercial name,” Tian Yunshan, a company official, told Reuters on Friday. “We have already passed our demands on to Google … We will see what happens in court.”

Asians Prefer Yahoo! Over Google And Microsoft

comScore has released what it calls as a comprehensive review of Internet usage behaviour. The study covers ten countries in the Asia Pacific region.

One of the most interesting bit of information presented by the report is that Asians overwhelmingly frequent Yahoo! sites more than Google ones. Out of the ten countries surveyed, Yahoo! ranks number one in Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan.

Aussies, Kiwis and Chinese prefer Microsoft domains.

An interesting thing to note is the fact that in South Korea, the most Internet-enabled country in the survey, NHN Corporation web sites are the most visited, followed by Lycos and Microsoft sites. Lycos?! Who would’ve known!

The survey also shows that Malaysia has a 45% Internet penetration rate. Not bad, right? But it could definitely be better, especially when Singapore has 58% and Australia 62%.
