OLPC XO May Be Available In The US By Christmas

OLPC

It seems that the Shrek-like OLPC XO may reach US consumers by Christmas.

The goal of the OLPC project is to provide children around the world with new opportunities to explore, experiment and express themselves. With the OLPC, affordable computing would be available for kids everywhere, even third world countries.

I’m just afraid that the timely launch of the OLPC in the US (not a third world country by any standards) would divert the already minute inventory to unnecessary “markets”.

The OLPC is not supposed to be a “must have” toy of some sort.
