My Brother’s Wedding

On Sunday, our family held a kenduri kahwin (wedding reception/banquet) for my brother, Azlan and my sister in law Fadila (yes they own blogs too… way too many if you ask me!).

Sensing the opportunity to get some hands on wedding photography experience, I got the green light from my parents to be the photographer for the event.

Beauty Of Nature

What do birds, fruits and the sky have in common?

If you answered that birds eat fruit and fly in the sky afterwards… Congratulations! That was an excellent answer. However, for me the three things mentioned previously were the focus of my photo outing last weekend.

Check them out :)

Shooting In RAW: Flowers And Bugs

Since I’ve gotten my Sony α200 (aka Alpha 200 or A200) DSLR, I’ve only shot photos in JPEG format. A few days ago I read up a bit on RAW Image Format and I promised myself to shoot in this format on my next outing.

Coincidentally, I had also won a bid on a Sigma 28-70mm Lens through eBay. This is the first item I bought on eBay and the whole experience was a pleasant one.

Additionally, I’ve been reading my camera manual more thoroughly. I’ve especially focused on the manual setting documentation. I was looking forward to customizing exposure and arperture settings when taking photos. Previously I mostly rely on the auto and preset modes.

I spent about half of yesterday trying to apply what I’ve learnt while giving my Sigma lens some workout. Check out the pictures I’ve taken and please feel free to comment on them.

HTNet Photoblog Resumes: Danga Bay Revisited

Ten days ago, I purchased a Sony α 200 (aka Sony A200) during my trip to KL. I finally settled on this particular model as my first DSLR because I find the balance of newbie-friendly controls, wealth of functions, superb image quality and value for money to be irresistible!

I remembered that my first Photoblog entry was back in May 2005 and the pictures were from Danga Bay. What better way to commemorate my first outing with the A200 by revisiting Danga Bay again.

Malaysian PC Fairs Are Not For Techies

From last Friday to Sunday, PIKOM PC Fair came to town. On Saturday, I decided to check out the wares on sale. It wasn’t a case of casual booth-hopping. I was actually looking for a specific equipment; a fan and heatsink combo for my aging (but still useful) Athlon Thunderbird processor. The processor may be old, but it runs on the still pretty common Socket A architecture.

So there I was, just in time to see the doors open for the 100 or so early birds (not really that early since the fair starts at 11:00 am). Surely I can find the heatsink of my dreams, right?
