Hero Dies in Tragic Four Car Pileup

It is truly a sad day when a good samaritan is tragically killed when he’s trying to help others. 19 year old Mohd Noor Afifi Mohamad Rosli was spending his third semester break at his parents’ house in Kampung Paya Jeras Hilir. He was also doing his practical training and was due to return to College Negri in Seremban this week. Here’s an excerpt from a The Star article highlighting the incident:

Yesterday, the 19-year-old automotive diploma student went to the aid of an accident victim trapped in a car but his humanitarian deed was dealt a tragic blow when another car rammed into him and two others.

Mohd Noor Afifi and wireman Koo Tian Foo, 24, were killed in a horrific incident in Jalan Sungai Buloh that wrecked four cars and also had one victim in a coma.

My deepest condolences go to the families and friends of Mohd Noor Afifi and others who perished or are receiving treatment for their injuries. It is unfortunate that a life of a hero ends in such tragic circumstances.

PageRank Recalculated

It seems that there has been updates to the PageRank calculations. First and foremost, I noticed that HTNet itself now has a PR of 5… Yay! I then checked some of the other blogs I frequently visit, and made some interesting discoveries.

Congratulations to all the above bloggers on your PR achievements.

Shah Alam police chief ACP Abdul Wahab Embong said a car travelling along the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) below the elevated interchange was hit by the collapsing structure of the flyover but the driver and a passenger escaped unhurt.

Is Yellow Pages Listing Worth It?

First of all, this article is about the Malaysian Yellow Pages service provided by TM Berhad. Furthermore, this article is Malaysia-centric, and thus probably will not apply to Yellow Pages in your country (or whatever the service is known as). Chronicled below are my experience, the experience of those I know, and whatever stated are just my opinion.

First of all, Yellow Pages is a globally-known brand, heck, it’s so embedded in modern culture, that it has its own dictionary entry. But how relevant is the Yellow Pages in these days of the Internet? It has a lot to do with what you’re looking for in the first place. As an aside, have you ever wondered about the history of the Yellow Pages?

Of Credit Cards and Online Spending

Credit cards are an important financial tool nowadays, it’s hard to find reasons not to own one. Sure, we’ve heard of all the gloom and doom tales of getting buried in debt due to overuse of plastic, but the keyword here is “overuse”. Just like any other tool, the credit card can be used properly or improperly. It’s really not the fault of the tool if it caused damage, it’s more likely to be the fault of the user.

Credit cards are especially useful in these times of e-commerce. Imagine, a global marketplace where everything from books to viagra can be purchased by a click of a button. Credit cards are a definite must have tool in this age of internet shopping.

First of all, you must have access to this tool. What if you can’t? What could be the reasons? Here’s some probable reasons why you cannot apply for a credit card or personal loans:

  • Not meeting minimum salary requirements.
  • Poor credit history (fresh Malaysian graduates: Do you have any outstanding PTPTN loans unpaid?)
