Pictures of Hutan Bandar

Hutan Bandar is one of the rare places of green tranquility in Johor Bahru. It spans over 32 hectares and is maintained by MBJB (Johor Bahru City Council). Translated to English, Hutan Bandar means “City Forest”. In the deeper parts of Hutan Bandar, you would literally feel disconnected from the hustle and bustle of JB. It’s a really strange, yet calming feeling to have, especially over the weekend after a full week of corporate battles and mental drain.

Some of the facilities available at Hutan Bandar are:

  • Lots of lush green flora.
  • Seven scenic lakes.
  • Children’s playgrounds.
  • Jungle Trek.
  • Exercise facilities.
  • Camping site.
  • Children’s swimming pool.

Here are some pictures I’ve taken during my last visit to Hutan Bandar.

Pictures of Saleng Zoo

Saleng Zoo is (from what I know) a privately owned zoo near Saleng, Johor. It is roughly midpoint between Senai and Kulai. The signage is a little blurred, so if you’re driving a little too fast, or lost your concentration temporalily, you might miss it.

Entry is RM12 for adults and RM6 for children. I visited Saleng Zoo two weeks ago, and I must say that I’m quite impressed with the place. It’s not overly commercialised like Zoo Negara (the National Zoo) and the state zoos.

My Boxes

Here’s the next series in my Photoblog, the computers I use on a daily basis. Advance warning: Don’t expect k-leet LEDs-galore, 10 billion cooling fans, cathode-lighted internals compubeasts. I expect my boxes to be functional, not aesthetically pleasing (or blinding).

The three computers are:

  • My home PC; AMD Thunderbird 1.4GHz, 128MB DDR-SDRAM, NVIDIA Geforce2 MX-400, Albatron KX600-Pro mobo, Powered by Slackware Linux.
  • The Corporate Server; Intel Celeron (Mendocino) 333MHz, 128MB SDRAM, Onboard SiS Display, Some generic SiS5595 mobo, Powered by Slackware Linux.
  • My work box; AMD Athlon XP 1600+, 512MB DDR-SDRAM, NVIDIA Geforce2 MX-400, Some generic VIA mobo, Underpowered by Windows XP :P

Sunset at Danga Bay

This would be my first post in the Photoblog category. I actually ran out of ideas of what to write, so I thought, what the heck… I might as well upload some of the photos I took when I’m out and about.

To save bandwidth, I will post the pictures in the extended body of each posts. Therefore, people with no interest to view the pics need not read the rest of this entry.
