Got Linked from USATODAY!

One of the benefits of my migration to a new hosting provider is that I get a much more detailed statistics on HTNet. While I was browsing through my stats, I found that I was linked from USATODAY sometime in mid April, via this article. This was related to my post on Cookie Monster’s sudden change of diet.

What’s so special about the link? Well, I didn’t really pimp the post to anyone, but sweet Ms. Whitney Matheson discovered it anyway :) Thank you!

I’m used to getting linked from major sites through their comment system or something similar, but this is my first time getting linked from a major news web site without any coaxing from my part… So yay to me as well :D

Happy Mothers Day

To all mothers out there, Happy Mothers Day. This is a very special day to appreciate, cherish and express your love to that one person who brought you into this earth.

Some of us might not be so lucky, and have lost our mother a long time ago, or perhaps even recently. Others are even worse off, by not even having memories of their mothers. Some might even have only bad memories of their mothers.

All in all, today is just one of those days where you have to count your blessings. And when I do, no matter what my mom has said or done in the past, that may have been very hurtful, I still do love her unconditionally.

Why Geeks Make Good Spouses

…at least according to craigslist (special thanks to Geek News Central for the link).

I know that the article is actually intended to be humourous, however, there’s no escaping the fact that there’s actually some bits of interesting information in there.

Another point missed is that, geeks, being tech-savvy, tend to have information at their fingertips. This includes actually finding out important scientific information relating to building long-lasting relationships based on trust, affection and a million other things that have a tendency to wreck one.

Overall, although humourous, the article is also insightful and concise. A recommended read for geeks and non-geeks alike.

Be Careful When Employing People

I know that most employers know this already; you must be very, very careful when employing people in Malaysia. There are lots of issues to note when employment is discussed. Some are pretty obvious, whereas some require careful, well-planned action plans.

Before you proceed, I’d just like to state that this post is not intended for workers, or those planning to join the workforce. It is merely a reflection of my experience as someone facilitating the employment process on behalf of a company. I will be very objective in my posting, and workers may find this post intimidating. You have been warned, proceed at your own risk.

Cookie Monster Turns Into Fruity Monster?

I saw the picture of one of my beloved childhood heroes, Sesame Street’s Cookie Monster eating a Photoshopped apple!

Well, it seems that Sesame Street is running a campaign called Healthy Habits for Life, where one of the key issues is the importance of a balanced diet. However, the seemingly sudden change of diet by Cookie Monster is quite bizarre. This takes into consideration that his diet for the past 30 years or so has almost solely been cookies (with the occasional plates, eating utensils, and telephones thrown in for good measure)… and now suddenly he’s into fruits?

This change of diet has been met with mixed feelings by kids, parents and the media. Why must childhood innocence be dragged into battles of political correctness… For God’s sake, let children be children.
