I’ve been hunting for a nice PHP caching system to be implemented on my server. I’ve looked at APC and eAccelerator. Both looks like a mature and feasible caching system for PHP. I then compiled and installed them (one at a time of course) on the server and I was very surprised by the results!
This post is a continuation of a previous post; My Splogging Experiment (Part 1). The objective of this experiment is to find out whether splogging is a worthwhile online revenue generation method. If you haven’t read Part 1 of this experiment, I recommend that you do so before reading the rest of this post.
I’ve been wondering why splogging (spam blogging) is becoming more prevalent nowadays. The first thing I suspected was it must surely be profitable monetary wise. Why else would anyone hop on the splogging bandwagon if it wasn’t for the money?
Rather than just wonder about it, I decided to give it a try. I created a (now deactivated) subdomain on blings.info (I’m not about to invest on a proper domain just for an experiment) and started building my experimental splog.
I’ve been asked a couple of times why I run my web hosting business using servers located overseas. The original reason was purely the lack of expertise and uncompetitive features when it comes to Malaysian web hosting companies. However, this seems to be a thing of the past as lots of Malaysian web hosts are getting rave reviews from customers within and beyond Malaysia.
Nevertheless, there exists a more significant problem that I don’t see going away anytime soon: our precarious Internet backbone. Most people will probably assume I’m talking about capacity issues here. However, it’s more worrying than that: it’s a mindset problem.

I did an overview of the web server platforms used by Malaysian political parties a few days back. I then decided to go further and examine the actual contents of the linked sites, hoping to somehow link to the fact that we’re going to have a general election very soon.
