Single Bookmark Category List Widget 2.0 Released

WordPress 2.3’s new taxonomy thingamajig broke the previous SBCL widget. Therefore, being the benevolent widget producer that I am, I’ve released Single Bookmark Category List Widget 2.0.

Please note that only WP 2.3 users should use this new version.

WordPress 2.3 Released

Just when I have made some minor tweaks to my theme, WordPress 2.3 has also been released. Talk about weird coincidence. Anyway, I won’t be upgrading quickly, but I do feel that I’ll get all my blogs upgraded by middle of next week.

I usually wait a while after a major release of WordPress to read more of other people’s upgrading experience… mostly to get a “feel” of the potential problems I might face.

Mind you though, I did try out WP2.3-RC1 and it was mostly smooth sailing although it choked my post categories (because I choose to slug them as “tags”) and bookmark categories as well. But it wasn’t hard to fix anyway.

If you’re a WP user do you have plans to upgrade? Why and why not?

Backing Up Your WordPress Installation

I use WordPress to power a few blogs that I run. It’s a robust, well-structured and powerful backend for any type of web site that has a chronological updating cycle.

After using WordPress for some time, you will undeniably have amassed a very valuable asset; your blog content. Believe it or not, unless you’re running a splog, your posts and pages are valuable. They contain nuggets of information you’ve jotted down over time. Even if they don’t have monetary value, I’m sure they have some sort of sentimental value.

Therefore, it is only just that you treat them as real assets; and for any sort of computer data, this means backing them up for safety. You won’t know what could happen to your server.
