I’ve cooked up a simple widget over the weekend that lists the links in a single WordPress bookmark category (aka Blogroll category in WordPress 2.1), which I name Single Bookmark Category List.
I’d like to say that this widget is a more fine-tuned implementation of the standard Links widget, where you can place links in specific link category anywhere in your sidebar(s). The Single Bookmark Category List widget gives you more flexibility on the placement of your blogroll links.
You can read more about this widget or why not just download it and give it a whirl!

If I wanted to have multiple plugins of the single bookmark category list, how would I do that? I’d like to have multiple widgets for numerous lists I’d like to maintain. Thanks for writing the plugin.

Hi Jeff,
The SBCL widget displays all links in a specific bookmark category.
Therefore, you might want to consider organising the links into different categories and then using the SBCL widget to display these categories in your sidebar accordingly.
Does this answer your question?

Duh, I figured it out. Sorry for the previous comment.

Hi Azmeen,
I just upgraded to WP 2.3, and now the SBCL widget is acting kinda funny. The category names are often not showing up. Does this plugin work with 2.3 or is it me? It is soooo useful, I hope I can continue to use it.
Many thanks!!

Hi Kay,
It’s not you; it’s WP’s new “taxonomy” approach to bookmarks and categories
I’ll upload a WP2.3 compatible version very soon

Was looking forward to using this. When activated for my 3 categories, it lists the links but not the category titles, and each category displays this error:
WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'WHERE term_id=5 LIMIT 1' at line 1]
SELECT name FROM WHERE term_id=5 LIMIT 1
(note: the numbers 5 change with each category)

Hi Michael,
The reason you got the error is because you’re using version 2.0 of the plugin which is for WordPress 2.3.
I noticed that your blog uses WordPress 2.2.1, therefore you should use Single Bookmark Category List 1.1.
For more info, please visit the widget’s information section.
