I finally upgraded, on Monday night. I was putting it off because the box I was upgrading runs my website and everything. Was only down for about 2 hours while upgrading. Had a ton of software to compile by hand too. I’m so glad it’s over with. Have you installed yet Azmeen?

I’m always running “current” on my home box… But last week, I had the go ahead from my boss to install Slackware on a “test server” at the office.
So I burned a copy and installed on that box. I’m trying to convince my boss to install Slackware on our present Samba server. It’s running on Red Hat 9, and you know how Red Hat loves to pull “pay for support” stunts. They fell victim to that and was virtually left stranded (not that we don’t have the money, but there’s no Red Hat corporate presence in Malaysia).
The thing is, the Samba server is a real big-iron machine. It’s a dual Xeon box, from Dell. I lack experience handling boxes with SCSI hard disks. Furthermore, this is a production server, so I better get my stuff right before touching it, hence, my request for a test server.
Wish me luck!
